Description
Set on a quiet, tree-lined street, the "Rose of Sharon" Holiday Home is a fully furnished house for you to use as a base for exploring this area of South Western Ontario.

The "Rose of Sharon" is located in the quiet town of Aylmer, Ontario, just minutes by car from the beautiful, sandy beaches at Port Bruce and Port Burwell on Lake Erie''s north shore, and within easy reach of several Golf Courses in the Aylmer, St Thomas and London area.

Aylmer is 2 hours by car from Niagara Falls, 2 hours from Toronto and just 25 minutes from London, Ontario, where visitors can enjoy great shopping, Night-life, Museums and Art Galleries and also the annual Summer Festivals - Sun-fest, the Hot Air Balloon-fest.

If quieter persuits are what you are seeking, then nearby Springwater Conservation Area might interest you. There, you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of some of the last remaining Carolinian Forest in Southwestern Ontario and you may catch a glimpse of one of our several rare native birds.

During the month of March, the Aylmer area is visited by tens of thousands of Tundra swans, as they migrate from their summer feeding grounds on Chesapeake Bay and fly north to the Arctic to breed. On their journey, the huge flocks of swans stop at the Wildlife Management Area in Aylmer to rest and feed before continuing their annual migration. During the migration, up to 10,000 Tundra Swans pass through this area.

In late summer the north shore of Lake Erie sees a unique migration of Monarch Butterflies, which spend the winter in Central America and gather in this area in the Fall as they prepare for their epic journey south to warmer climes.

Each September and October, thousands of Birds of Prey, which fly south for the winter, pass through this area on their winter migration. Visit nearby Hawk''''s Cliff and watch for our native Raptors. Some birds such as the Turkey Vulture, Red Tailed Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk and Golden Eagle are summer residents in this area, so bring your binoculars, pack a picnic and prepare to be amazed!
