This waterfront cottage is nestled in a grove of trees, on a hill, 30 steps from the Chesapeake Bay. If you're looking for a quiet, safe neighborhood, Long Beach is the community for you. This private beach community has long term, full year residents. The sunsets are breathtaking. The moonrise over the Bay is magnificent. This community is a jewel for those seeking a quiet, restful vacation while only an hour away from Washington, DC.

Swim in the Bay. Tired of being crowded on the beach. You can quietly read from your lounge chair and be the only one on the Beach. You can fish from the shore or drive 15 minutes to Solomon's Island and rent a boat. Solomon''s Island also offers elegant restaurants as well as fun spots where the blue crabs are spread on the table for your dining enjoyment. Art galleries and unique shops line the main street. Take your kids to the lighthouse tour or to Calvert County Marine Museum.

Twenty minutes from your quiet hideaway, you can do the shopping that you never have time to do at home -- Pier One, Bath and Body Works, Target, Walmart, Lowes, craft shops, etc. Take an afternoon and go to the Apex, a six-plex cinema or rent movies from the local Blockbuster.

This is truly a hidden away gem perfect for a family vacation. Young children will love building sandcastles on the beach. Older kids will love fossil hunting -- yes shark teeth can be found right on your beach or they can bring their videogames or play computer games. You'll love it. I did. I bought it!
