From Military Homes to Holiday Rentals, Subic Bay, Philippines

When the Americans left their Military Bases in the Philippines, the local government of Olongapo took over. It is now called the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. It is a self-sustaining centre for commerce and industry, financial investments and tourism. The public's curiosity about the former American military base helped launch it into a popular tourist destination. The influx of tourists drove developers to build hotels and vacation rentals in order to keep up with the demand for accommodation.
The former military housing areas were the first to benefit from this tourism boom. They became available for long-term lease to vacation rental companies. They were soon converted to luxurious holiday homes.
Binictican Housing
The Binictican housing community was one of the bigger military housing areas back in the day. All holiday homes here have 3 bedrooms and 2 full + 2 half bathrooms. There is also an extra room for the help, so the entire unit can comfortably accommodate from 8-10 guests. They have centralised airconditioning, hot & cold running water and a full kitchen.
Forest Hills Village Resort
All holiday rentals at Forest Hills have 3 bedrooms and sleep 8. The living room is furnished with a sofa bed for some extra sleeping space. The kitchens come complete with refrigerator, electric range and cooking implements for guests who prefer to cook their own food. All units have 2 bathrooms with hot & cold shower and their own carports.
Forest View Leisure Residences
Forest View Leisure Residences manages and maintains 120 former military housing units. All units have been tastefully converted into ideal vacation rentals. They are located in El Kabayo Hills and are also available for long-term lease. El Kabayo was the newest housing community back in the days when the Americans were still in residence. All units have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. They come equipped with fully functional kitchens and centralised air conditioning.
Instead of letting the old military houses fall into disrepair, they were converted into holiday homes, a brilliant revenue source for the freeport.
