Remote Vacation Rentals: Anawangin, Philippines

Anawangin Beach is a tiny crescent shaped cove some 30 minutes by boat from Pundaquit, a popular tourist destination in the town of San Antonio, province of Zambales, Philippines. Anawangin is a white sand beach, virtually untouched by rapid development characteristic of the tourist trade. There are no hotels or vacation homes on Anawangin itself, but there are numerous vacation rentals in Pundaquit. This helps preserve its remoteness and its pristine condition. Behind the beach is a forest of pine trees on the other side of a small marsh, which is home to many bird species. One popular vacation rental in Pundaquit has mixed reviews from former guests, as with any other place on earth. The place is called Wild Rose Beach Inn, whose innkeeper is so full of character such as you would find in small remote villages. The place has simple amenities and an eager-to-please staff. Guests who prefer more upscale amenities would do better to look for another place, which would likely be a little farther from Anawangin Cove. Also nearby is the Patio Beach Resort  which is a beautiful destination in itself. A short boat ride from the Anawangin Cove, their vacation rentals include furnished, air conditioned apartments each with a full bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor lava rock barbecue area. The resort offers excellent boating, fishing and snorkeling spots. As remote as it is, a lot of people prefer just setting up camp in Anawangin instead of going back to the many mini-hotels and vacation rentals in Pundaquit. There is no electricity and campers have to fetch water from the deep wells. This is a source of novelty for the tourists and they don't seem to mind roughing it for a night or two, after all they wanted to be away from it all, right?
